Today’s topic ….. do you pay attention when you eat?
I thought I did but to be honest I didn't really think too much about it. Since I have been on a low acid diet I have to make sure I eat slowly, chew my food properly, only eat 3 to 4 small meals a day and avoid eating/drinking 2 to 3 hours before I go to bed.
If you are multi-tasking whilst eating you might not give your food the full attention it deserves, this may not emotionally satisfy you, but also means you’ll end up eating it faster. Instead,
eat slowly and mindfully.
It takes around 20 minutes for fullness signals to transmit from your stomach to the brain, so if you eat too fast, you’ll eat far more than you need.
Not only that, if you have a family, eating together at the table it is a great way to bond, and young children will pick up healthy eating habits this way, too.
Win-win!
Another tip.....switch off your TV and put away your phone when you have a meal.
