Tip of the day...do you eat before or after exercise?
Some people are not sure whether to eat before or
after a class. It comes down to personal preference. I have always eaten before teaching but that is what I prefer to do. I find eating late at night is not good for me.
Eating before exercise provides
your body with energy and afterwards helps with recovery. I eat a couple of hours before I teach. However not just any old fuel will do it is important to eat the right food.
Choose carbs higher in fibre, so
they release their energy slowly as well as lean protein eg porridge, eggs - breakfast, chicken, rice - lunch.
After a class a post-workout
meal or snack could be:
Chicken, vegs, rice.
Egg/omelette.
Salmon with sweet potato.
Tuna salad sandwich on whole grain bread.
Also make sure you drink plenty
of water before, during and after your workout. Some people can suffer from cramp if dehydrated.
