Good evening,
My tip today is.....Prevent trapped fluid in hot weather
Some people will experience swollen feet during hot weather.
I have something called lymphedema and my left lower leg and foot is prone to swelling which can be
uncomfortable and sometimes painful. During the hot weather this can increase and my leg/foot can look more swollen and puffy.
Here are some tips that can help.
Keep moving - try and stay active and move throughout the day. If you sit for too long fluid can build up around the ankles. Exercise daily even if it is just a
walk.
Feet above the head - I only started doing this about 3 weeks ago. I do it when I go to bed. I put my feet up against the wall as this is higher than your heart which allows the fluid to drain. I started for about 10 minutes and now do around 30 minutes - I read a book. 😀
Cook from scratch - Processed or packaged food can be high in processed salt and can increase the swelling in your body. We do need salt but avoid table salt. I use pink himalayan salt.
Stay hydrated - Try and drink plenty of water. When we
sweat, we sweat out minerals too so you will need to replenish.
Massage - I give myself a massage using a dry brush. It helps with circulation, exfoliates skin,
eliminates toxins, stimulates the lymphatic system and breaks up fat deposits.
Feet on the earth - tight shoes can increase swelling in hot weather. Allow your feet to breathe, try walking barefoot.
Let me know if any of
this helps in any way 😁
As usual would love your thoughts. 😀
Have a good weekend.
