Good morning,
My tip today
is.....helping you to eat healthy during Christmas.
1. Focus on festive, nutritious foods
- Add winter vegetables eg brussels sprouts, parsnips, and red cabbage into meals. Roast them with herbs for a delicious side dish.
- Try seasonal fruits like clementines,
pomegranates, and cranberries. Use them in salads, desserts, or as snacks.
2. Why not try and make healthy swaps
- Mashed Potatoes: Try cauliflower mash or mix potatoes with sweet potatoes for extra nutrients.
- Stuffing: Use whole grains like quinoa or add nuts, seeds, and dried fruits
for flavour and nutrition.
- Desserts: Opt for dark chocolate treats or bake with almond flour and natural sweeteners like honey or dates.
3. Portion control, not deprivation
- Indulge in your favourite Christmas treats, but in smaller portions. Savour each bite rather than overloading your
plate.
- Follow the 80/20 rule. Eat healthily 80% of the time and allow for indulgences the other 20%.
4. Incorporate Activity
- Stay active by going for a brisk walk after meals or organising family games. Movement can help offset indulgent meals and keep your energy levels up.
5. Hydrate Smartly
- Drink water or herbal teas to stay hydrated.
- Limit sugary cocktails by choosing lighter options like mulled wine or a small glass of champagne.
6. Mindful Eating
- Eat slowly and savour the flavours.
This helps prevent overeating and enhances enjoyment.
Let me know if any of this helps in any way 😁
As usual would love your
thoughts. 😀
Have a good weekend.
