Good morning,
Tip of the day......Why we use a bender
ball in Pilates.
In Pilates I use a Bender ball (also called a mini Pilates ball) as they add support, challenge, and variety to exercises.
Why is a bender ball beneficial:
1. Core Activation & Strength
Placing a Bender ball under the lower back, between the thighs, or under the feet engages deep core muscles, making exercises more effective. The instability challenges balance and coordination, which strengthens stabilising muscles.
2. Increased Range of Motion
When placed under the lower back, the ball
allows for a gentle extension of the spine, helping to create a deeper abdominal curl and improving spinal mobility.
3. Joint-Friendly & Supportive
For people with lower back pain or sensitive joints, the ball provides support and cushioning, making exercises more accessible and comfortable.
4. Better Posture & Alignment
The ball helps promote proper spinal alignment by encouraging better posture during movements, making it great for rehabilitation or older adults.
5. Versatile & Fun!
- Can be used for core work, balance
training, stretching, and strength exercises.
- Adds variety to workouts, keeping them engaging and effective.
- Lightweight and easy to use at home or in group classes.
If you would like to try Pilates on a Wednesday or Over 50's Pilates on a Thursday and you have not been before try it for free.
Let me know if any of this helps in any way 😁
As usual would love your thoughts. 😀
Have a good weekend.
