Good morning,
Tip of the day......Stress Awareness
Month
April 2025 is Stress Awareness Month, championed by the Stress Management Society, aims to to raise awareness about stress's impact and encourage proactive stress management with the theme this year being #LeadWithLove.
Moving more during Stress Awareness Month is essential because
physical activity plays a key role in reducing stress, improving mood, and boosting overall well-being. Here’s why movement—especially Pilates, Yoga and gentle exercise—is so beneficial during stressful times:
1. Movement Reduces Stress Hormones
Exercise helps lower cortisol, the hormone associated with stress, while
increasing endorphins—the "feel-good" chemicals that help us feel happier and more relaxed.
2. Improves Breathing & Calms the Mind
Pilates emphasises deep, controlled breathing, which activates the parasympathetic nervous system (our body's "rest and digest" mode). This helps reduce anxiety and promotes relaxation.
3. Releases Muscle Tension
When we’re stressed, we tend to tense up, leading to aches, pains, and stiffness. Gentle stretching and mindful movement help release this tension, improving posture and reducing discomfort.
4. Boosts Energy & Mental Clarity
Instead of draining you, movement recharges you! Even light activity can boost circulation, improve oxygen flow to the brain, and enhance focus—helping you feel more refreshed and in control.
5. Promotes Better Sleep
Regular movement helps regulate sleep patterns, making it easier to
unwind at night and get restful, quality sleep—essential for stress management.
6. Creates a Sense of Community & Support
Joining a fitness class provides social connection, which is key for reducing stress and feeling supported. Exercising together can lift your mood and encourage a positive mindset.
Let me know if any of this helps in any way 😁
As usual would love your thoughts. 😀
Have a good weekend.
