☀️ How to look after yourself this Summer
Summer brings sunshine, longer days, and hopefully a bit of a slower pace—but it can also come with heat, disrupted routines, and the pressure to "do it all." Here's how to stay well, energised, and balanced during the summer months:
1. Stay hydrated 💧
Your body needs more water in warmer weather. Keep a bottle nearby, add fresh fruit or mint for flavour, and aim to sip throughout the day.
2. Move your body (Gently) 🧘♀️
You don’t need to push yourself in the heat. Choose cooler times of day for walks or exercise. Try indoor Pilates, stretching, or swimming to stay active without overheating.
3. Protect your skin & eyes 🧴🕶️
Use sun cream, wear a hat, and protect your eyes with sunglasses. Even on cloudy days, UV rays can be strong.
4. Eat light and colourful 🥗
Summer is perfect for fresh, seasonal fruit and veg. Think
salads, smoothies, berries, and water-rich foods like cucumber and melon. Lighter meals can feel more energising in the heat.
5. Take breaks & rest 😌
If you're busier with your children, grandchildren, holidays, or social
events—make space for rest. Short naps, early nights, or quiet time with a book can do wonders for your wellbeing.
6. Get outside (Mindfully) 🌳
Nature boosts your mood and energy—but avoid the midday sun. Early morning or evening
time in the garden or park can help reduce stress and improve sleep.
7. Listen to your body ❤️
Hot weather can be draining. If you're tired, slow down. If you feel energised, enjoy it! Let your body set the pace, not the
season.
