Good morning,Â
Â
Tip of the day.....Bringing mindfulness and meditation to your workouts
We often think of exercise as a time to push ourselves physically, but did you know that adding a little mindfulness or meditation can do wonders for your mind and body? Even just a few moments of focused breathing before or after your workout can make a big difference to how you feel, both during exercise and in your daily life.
Â
Why try it?
- Reduces stress and anxiety: Mindful movement helps calm the mind, making workouts feel less like a chore and more like self-care.
- Improves focus: Youâre more likely to notice how your body feels,
which can help you avoid injury and get more from each session.
- Boosts motivation: When youâre present, youâre more likely to enjoy your workout and stick with your routine.
How to start?
- Take 2-3 deep breaths before you begin, setting an intention for your session (like âI want to feel energisedâ or âIâm grateful for what my body can doâ).
- During your workout, notice your breath and how your muscles feel. If your mind wanders, gently bring your focus back.
- Finish with a few minutes
of gentle stretching or quiet meditation, just sit, close your eyes, and breathe.
Upcoming Classes and Ways to Practise Mindful Movement
If youâd like to experience mindfulness in motion, our Yoga with Ali sessions and Dance Fitness with Paula are a great way to combine movement and mental clarity. Every class is designed to support your well-beingânot just your fitness. In my Pilates sessions we always finish our class with a meditation and relaxation helping our body unwind.
If you do a workout at home, try ending your next workout with a 2-minute meditation, just sit or lie down, close your eyes, and focus on your breath. Notice how your body feels and let any tension melt away. Itâs a small habit that can make a big difference.
