Good morning,
When people mention protein we automatically think of bodybuilders or young lads trying to bulk but it’s essential for women at every age
- especially 40+.
Why????
1. It protects your muscle (and metabolism)
Around 30 plus we naturally start to lose muscle mass. Less muscle = slower metabolism, lower
strength, more aches, and increased fall risk as we age.
Protein helps:
- Maintain lean muscle
- Support strength
- Keep metabolism
healthier
- Improve balance and bone support
- For women over 50 (that's me) this is huge.
2. It helps with weight management
Protein
keeps you fuller for longer. It stabilises blood sugar and reduces those mid-afternoon “I need biscuits now” crashes. That is definitely me.
When women under eat protein, we can:
Feel hungry quickly
Crave sugar
Struggle to lose body fat
It’s not about eating less - it’s about eating smarter.
3. It supports bone health
We know we need calcium for bones, but protein is just as important. It helps maintain bone density - especially post-menopause when oestrogen drops.
4. Hair, skin, nails & recovery
Protein is literally the building block of your
body.
It supports:
Tissue repair
Recovery after exercise
Skin elasticity
Hair and nail strength
If someone is training and not eating enough protein, recovery will feel slower.
5. Hormone & immune support
Protein provides amino acids needed to make hormones and support the immune system — both of which become even more important as we age.
Take care love Paula xx 🧘🏻♀️💖
