5 reasons why you might not be losing weight
One of the questions I am asked a lot is ‘Why am I not losing
weight’
I’m exercising everyday
I’m eating healthy
I have noticed people may be exercising but after exercise if they are working ou, particularly in the evening in the evening they go home and say they deserve a treat so they will have a chocolate bar, crisps or alcohol. I know I did this to.
You may think you are
eating healthy but are you? It depends on the foods you are eating. Low fat yogurt is a good one to use as an example. I get told there is fruit in yogurt and surely it is a better alternative to a cake. Well no it isn’t there is still sugar in yogurt anything that screams low fat means that sugar has been added. SUGAR makes you fat most of us are aware of this now.
When we start to dig deeper with KSFL and get to know our client it might not just
be the food it could be down to hormones, lack of sleep, stress etc and that is why each week I do a talk for my clients so they can start understanding their body and how it works. What foods to avoid (we are all different) etc.
Below are some tips that I hope will help.
1. You are using the word 'diet' which often makes us think short term health changes rather than looking at the long haul. Try thinking healthy lifestyle changes, I know it's a
bit long winded but it changes the mind-set.
2. You are eating too little. Yes indeed women quite easily do not eat enough and your metabolism shuts down. Take a look at just how much you are eating. Do you write a food diary it is a great way to see what you are eating and drinking and most of my clients are shocked when it is written down and they can see what they have been eating/drinking. If you do a food diary I am happy to take a look if you like and we
can see what's going on.
3. You are exercising too much which you might think is impossible when you want to lose weight but actually your body does need to rest and it’s when it repairs that you get the gains so give yourself a day off and vary your training.
4. You are in the kitchen too much. Get away from food a little bit, have your other half cook, or get your kids to make something, just take a break from always thinking about
food.
5. You have no me time. All you do is work hard, look after the children, you are never shutting the world out for even a minute to relax. Stress is the biggest hindrance to health so take five, go for a walk, go clear your mind and think of nothing and if you do start thinking of jobs, start chanting 'Clear mind' to distract yourself.
I can relate to this I find it very hard to relax and not be checking my emails, Facebook etc but we all
need to chill and since returning from my holiday I have realised this and I have started to walk each day just to clear my mind (not a long walk) and the last couple of weeks (weather permitting) my son and I have been on bike rides. It is a great way to relax, have fun, avoid the phone and BONUS my son is not on his tablet. Making changes does not have to be big. Small steps lead to bigger
ones.
