Good morning
Have you lost your mojo? I did last week with the snow I was out of my routine, school closing, classes cancelled and I found I was reaching for the unhealthy snacks as a bit of comfort food. It's easy to feel uninspired but I was back on it by Monday morning. Here are a few tips to help you get back on track with your exercise.
1. Buy some new gear
Buy some new workout gear that you love and feel good in. Then you'll want to wear it!!
2. Try something different
If you've lost your motivation it might be good to try something
different? Mix up your exercise routine, take on a challenge, do what you enjoy! If you're easily bored, continue mixing it up - the added bonus to this is that you keep challenging your body.
3. Rope in your friends
It's always easier to stick to a plan when someone else is counting on you.
Arrange to meet friends for a class or ask a colleague to join you on a run. You could suggest some friendly competition with each other to reach certain fitness goals. For example being able to do 10 press-ups or run a mile without stopping.
4. Set a goal...
Set yourself a goal that appeals to you - whatever it may be. Having something tangible to work towards is another way of staying motivated. Enter a local charity race or decide on a target - it could be your ideal weight or making it to a class twice a week for a month, for example.
5. Reward yourself
It's been proven that a reward system is an excellent way to keep your motivation going, particularly when you're getting started again. Think of something that you want to do or buy, then reward yourself when you reach your milestone.
6. Remember how exercise makes you feel?
Remember how good it makes you feel when you've done a workout. The endorphins, energy rush, muscle aches, sweat, the music, the atmosphere and being with like-minded people. When you exercise you are a happier, more focused and productive version of yourself. Win, win!!
