Good afternoon,
We are almost at the end of January and I cannot believe how quickly it has gone. I know some of you are doing dry January, not long to go now and well done.
My topic today is routine. I have just finished a Zoom meeting with other fitness professionals and this came up in a discussion and it was interesting to hear how people's routine have changed over the last 12 months and what they are/are not doing.
Below were some of the questions asked:-
Has your routine changed?
Are you home schooling?
Do you need to set your alarm clock to wake you up in the morning?
Do you have structure?
Are you doing anything different in lockdown?
Are you getting dressed?
Have your sleeping habits changed?
Are you drinking more alcohol?
For me, it is very important to have a routine as I need structure and like to plan as much as I can for the day/week so I know what I need to do. I LOVE a list, in fact I have two, work and personal, particularly as I seem to be forgetting things. I think that is my AGE and the
menopause. 😊
I have also found a routine can help in times of stress, uncertainty and unpredictability and more so now as we are going through this pandemic. It gives me a sense of control, helps me to focus, keeps me organised and motivated. I love the feeling at the end of the day that I have achieved something, doesn't have to be anything
big, just that tick on my list when I have completed a task makes me feel better.😊
Having a routine is about more than just your day to day activities and your work. Don't forget to make TIME for yourself. As you know my ME time is walking as it helps me switch off. I walk twice a week but my aim is to increase this.
I am still getting up at the same time before we went into lockdown as I teach online classes in the morning plus home schooling so Aaron needs to be up for online learning. I get ready as I normally would if I was going out to teach ie wearing make-up. I don't think my clients would appreciate me without make-up. I might scare them. 😊
I was watching the tv this morning and they were discussing mental health/wellbeing and they mentioned putting on your favourite clothes, doing your hair, makeup etc as if you were going on a night out and how good it would make you feel and I love this idea. Might be worth a try.
