How are you? Have you had a good week? I cannot believe we are in September.
It is now time for a lot of people to get back into a routine particularly if you have been off over the summer with the kids or on holiday. Let me know if there is any way I can help ie exercise or nutrition.
Are you finding you haven’t exercised in a while and maybe you are finding it difficult to get back into it? It's easy to talk yourself out of exercising.
Here are some tips:
1. Take baby steps. Find a class you would like to try and take it easy. You don’t want to cause an injury or do too much. Start with one class and build it up.
2. Don’t feel you won’t get the hang of the routines/exercises no one is perfect. Every workout takes practice. You'll get the hang of it if you keep making an effort.
3. Do different types of workouts to keep things interesting and to exercise different muscle groups.
4. Why not bring a friend. It is so easy to say I can’t be bothered or find an excuse, at least if you have a buddy, you can motivate each other.
5. Find a class that keeps you motivated.
6. Make your workout a habit. Eventually it will become part of your daily/weekly routine.
7. Don’t feel guilty if you miss a week due to holiday, work, etc. Get straight back into it you won’t be sorry.
8. Don’t think you are going to feel fitter, stronger or lose lots of weight straight away. It takes time.
9. Set goals and write it down so you can see how you are progressing.
10. It takes weeks to see real changes. Even a pound of weight loss or a pound of muscle gain is reason to reward yourself. Go out with friends or buy a new pair of jeans. Go on, you deserve it.
Fitness and healthy choices don't have to be a chore. Make it fun, varied, consistent and do it with a workout buddy. Before you know it, you will have created a life changing habit for good.
